France is a one of a kind place. It is a profoundly beautiful country, and is rich with bands such as Betraying the Martyrs, Gojira and many, many others. Yet they cannot match the wonder of lesser known Uneven Structure. Who take a rather different avenue in music. This progressive/tech metal band are something to admire, and really excel at captivating the imagination of their audience.
With Arnaud Verrier on Drums, Benoit Friedrich on Bass, Igor Omodei, Steeves Hostin and Jérôme Colombelli taking the versatile 3 piece Guitar roles and finally Matthieu Romarn on Vocals – Uneven Structure are more than ready to impress with their latest offering La Partition, due April 21st via Longbranch Records.
After playing a collection of EU based tours and playing with huge names such as Protest The Hero, Textures and Tesseract. (As well as performing at festivals such as Brutal Assault & Euroblast). The French sextet are already setting the bar high. And it’s understandable why, especially when tracks like Succube. Which send you into ethereal states, and way into orbit with every perfect transition and groove filled guitar passage.
The album is a real stride forward, as well as breath of fresh air. Each note, each lyric, each drum beat has been considered, or so it seems. It has been woven carefully and has a great deal of musicianship embedded into each song. And this is something that can be very time consuming. So the diligence and diversity of this record is something to be celebrated, valued and commemorated.
For you prog/tech lovers out their in the wide world – and any other space like forms and species that may cherish this style of music, then take a good listen to, Alkaline Throat, The Bait & Your Scent. You will be more than stimulated and satisfied with the result.
This magnificent album isn't just one small step for Prog, but one big step for Metal itself with it's ascendance to space like regions with it's heavenly feel and powerful groove that shines through vibrantly.
