North Wales metalcore band Rosen Bridge are set to self-release their new EP Dreamcatcher on May 12th. The band have already released the title track for the EP Dreamcatcher which is available to stream here https://soundcloud.com/RosenBridgeuk/Dreamcatcher. This is the band’s second record, prior to their previous debut release Entropy.
This four track EP is filled with meaningful lyrics in which most are positive which is quite uncommon to see in metalcore releases nowadays and although it is not commonly seen it most certainly does not take away anything from the songs. This EP is very well written in terms of both the instrumental and the lyrical parts, however, unfortunately a lot of these parts can seem quite generic and do not stand out. Although the final track Brand New is completely different as it showcases the much heavier side of Rosen Bridge and I feel that this song was the best on the album. Brand New does not only have the melodic parts that Rosen Bridge are known for such as the catchiest chorus on the entire release, but it also gives the listener something to be impressed with when the end breakdown appears out of nowhere. When hearing this hard hitting part you cannot help but nod your head and pull that scrunched up face that we all are victims of pulling!
Unfortunately, I would be lying if I said that there were a lot of stand out parts like this one, but the majority of this EP seems to be filled with generic parts and a lot of the material sounds very similar. But do not get me wrong this EP is not bad, I in fact did enjoy listening to it but unfortunately I cannot say that is a stand out release among the other recent metalcore albums and EPs.
