Italys premier hardcore band Raw Power demonstrate why, once again, they are aptly named with their latest furious opus Inferno, an album that is also aptly named. Since forming in Reggio Emilia way back in 1981, the band have released countless albums both studio and live and compilations and in every single one, show off the bands speedy hardcore to its full effect and its great to see the band thankfully showing no songs of slowing down in 2017.
Over fifteen bruising tracks, Raw Power bulldoze their way through this album, barely pausing for breath and show exactly why they are held in such high regard from the hardcore community and hailed as a legendary band and as opening track Look The Other Way explodes into life, it is impossible to disagree.
The album flies by at such a fast pace that there is no chance that your attention will do anything else than be focused on the raw hardcore the band do best. Tracks such as You Don’t Know Your Enemy, How Many Bands, The Jurassic Hounds and Infernos title track in particular still sound as energetic and vital today as material from the bands early days in the 1980s, they still have that same vivacity and life and the whole album is a pleasure for any hardcore and punk fans to listen to.
The fact that Raw Power are still releasing music to this day is an amazing feat (the band have gone through a lot of lineup changes over their career and only a few years ago suffered the devastating loss of band member Luca Carpi) especially when so many other bands have fallen by the wayside but the fact that it is this good and this vital is even more amazing. With Inferno, Raw Power are still going stronger than ever and this is testament to their passion for their craft and their dedication and these two factors surge through Inferno with a vengeance.
Italy's kings of hardcore prove why they are so highly revered with this blistering opus
