High Strangeness is Texas based rockers Mothership‘s third release via Heavy Psych Sounds Records and Ripple Music.
Following on from their last release Mothership II which was released in 2014. The band have been relentlessly touring at home and abroad building up a reputation as a formidable force with their energy driven shows.
The first thing that will hit you from these trippy rockers is the nostalgic psychedelic feel to this album. With reminiscence of the old school era rock bands from the 60’s and 70’s that have paved the way for these rockers sound and style.
The album starts off with a melodious crescendo filled with acid induced guitar effects that will take your mind to another planet. This sets the path for the rest of album that and what to expect. Next up is ” Ride The Sun “ a track that is both catchy and hypnotic, drawing the listener in with its riffs and slightly overdriven sound before letting loose with an solo of epic proportions and upbeat licks.
We liked the track ” Crown Of Lies ” which has a hats off tribute to Metallica quoting the line ” From Whom The Bell Tolls “. Other stand out tracks are the infectious ” Helter Skelter ” and the beautiful instrumental track ” Eternal Trip “. The rest of High Strangeness is an album that will certainly take you on a journey and beam you up to the Mothership as intended. The artwork for the album is also greatly inspiring and very eye catching.
Kelley Juett, Kyle Juett and Judge Smith are skilled musicians and dominating the scene of classic heavy rock. This trio are making some waves and building a solid fan base around the world and creating something of their own. Kyle describes the album as “Our third offering is fueled by the same supersonic intergalactic heavy rock and roll music that has brought us together today. We are confident this new batch of tunes recorded and mixed by Ryan Lee (Crypt Trip) and mastered by Tony Reed (Mos Generator/Stone Axe) will solidify your being on board with us, and motivate you to invite others to take a trip on the ship and join us as well. These songs perfectly capture the next chapter in our saga across this great planet and beyond. We are currently playing a few of these songs in our set, so come out and hear ’em LIVE before they are released!”
