Metalcore giants Miss May I are back with a new album “ Shadows Inside ” via Sharptone Records. The bands last two releases ” Deathless ” and ” Rise Of The Lion ” weren’t well received after the success of ” At Heart ” and ” Monument ” leaving fans wondering if they would return back to form and get back to their best. It’s safe to say Miss May I are definitely back and sounding better than ever!
Throwing everything they have right from the start with the title track “ Shadows Inside ” which is a blitz of fast paced guitars, runaway train drums and the pure desolation of guttural vocals that accompanied with well placed clean parts. This is what we’ve been waiting for from the band who started off so promising and over the last couple of years lost footing but have now found themselves again. Their new approach suits the style giving listeners plenty to grin about and headbang along to. You can hear different influences such as in the song ” Never Let Me Stay ” which sounds like its straight off Bring Me The Horizons ” Sempiternal ” which isn’t a bad thing at all and is good to see them exploring other avenues.
Our favourite on the new album is the song ” Casualties ” which completely kicks ass with some smash face riffage before hitting you with a emotional heart felt chorus which goes so well with the track perfectly blending heavy as balls with melodic epicness. This is Miss May I at their best with a well structured song that has mass appeal and some brutal moments that will have you wanting to go wall to wall crazy for it.
There’s a decent mixture of songs on ” Shadows Inside ” with no song sounding like the last, you’ve got a blend heavy metal, rock, melodic moments and plenty of melodies. While this isn’t still the band of old that ripped through the scene we think they have progressed and matured their sound as a band and hope to see them that their rightful place as a band not to be underestimated.
Metalcore awesomeness that won't disappoint
