I have been waiting since 2014 for new music from Martyr Defiled and this album is certainly worth the wait. It’s a concept album, which I feel they’ve mastered excellently. Also, enlisting the design geniuses Nemesis Designs to do the artwork has made it that extra bit special. I feel they’ve made it stand out even more by getting special guests Pierre Pelbu (Knuckledust) and Konan Hall (Malevolence) who I must say truly killed their vocal sections. The track that really stands out hugely for me is actually the first track, called Sins Of The Father as I feel it just really hits hard and sets the tone for the rest of the album straight away.
I feel that Martyr Defiled are in the middle of metalcore and deathcore, which is certainly a good mix as it attracts two very different yet extremely popular genres flocking to their name. Another track that really pushes this album out to me is Their Souls Are Mine as it’s just extremely tech-y while keeping a brutal assault which Martyr Defiled have always been about. I wasn’t sure that they would be able to beat their previous release No Hope, No Morality but I was certainly mistaken and I welcome this album into my shortlist for album of the year.
If you’re a fan of Martyr Defiled then you should certainly be a fan of this as they’ve come back with their trademark sound while adding something new to spice the album up so it is never bland. Every track on this release is unique in its own way which really hits home. I feel they’ve handled the songs on this release perfectly which is no surprise, as they spent two years making sure this album is incredible.
Martyr Defiled coming out with their brutal assault of 12 tracks which makes me feel this could be album of the year
