Who are these people and why have they slipped under my radar for so long?
Fractal Generator, a three piece from somewhere in Canada, with their album Apotheosynthesis, is the kinda shit I expect to hear on a DMT trip. It’s a bit weird, a bit spacey but it makes perfect sense. Immensely talented musicians, Fractal Generator are, in my humble opinion, not far off rubbing elbows with metal’s finest. Assuming their live performance is on par with their studio (I think it probably is).
My face has been blasted off and is floating somewhere in the space time continuum and I don’t know if I’ll ever get it back. I was not expecting this album to hold any weight but boy it does and then some. I can only describe it as beautifully nasty. With an enigmatic aura surrounding, it’s harmonic and pleasant while being gritty and filthy. A combination I adore but very few get right. I’m a sucker for mystery and Fractal Generator have that in buckets.
Apothy… apethy… aposynth…Apotheosynthesis is well and truly stunning and I got a huge kick out of blasting it out my bedroom window as my plain Jane neighbour looked on in horror.
A heartfelt thumbs up from me. I eagerly await what they’ll do next.
