There is some music that is just built for the summer months and even in the darkest depths of winter, it is music that reminds of more sunny times. The Beach Boys obviously are one, Weezer are another as well the Pixies and there are so many individual songs that are tailor made for the sunshine and all that it brings. You can now add to that list, Summer Of Luv, the latest EP from Leeds alternative rockers Fizzy Blood as it is music of a sunny disposition with an added bit of grit for good measure in there as well.
A crackle of energy kicks off Summer Of Luv, and then erupts into the opening track Pawn, a catchy tune caustic beast of a song that introduces the sound of the band in tremendously effective form. Pawn has an effective energy and gets things off to a great start with its infectiousness something that’s runs through the remainder of the EP.
From then on things go in an even more “up” trajectory in terms of how their songs sound and are delivered with the band showcasing their knack of writing catchy and well written songs. Songs like the punchy ADHD and the more moody but still full of energy track that is Haunted show the depth of range of the Fizzy Blood sound
Fizzy Blood save the best for last with the quirky electro-fused title track with its memorable vibe and the epic closer Healing Isn’t Free which has a real anthemic quality to it and end the EP on a real high. With Summer Of Luv, the band have assembled a great collection of songs and have the talent and ambition to reach even greater heights which I’ve no doubt they will do. For now though, you have this EP in all its glory so make sure you round out the summer by listening to it, you won’t retreat it and it’s sure to become a firm favourite for sure.
Quirky, catchy and energetic rock are in abundance on this EP from Leeds alternative rockers.
