For a band I haven’t heard of, Death Of Kings really do appeal to me as they have their groovy thrashy riffs alongside their harsh vocals which makes this a band I can really get into. They mix quite a few technical riffy bits into their songs while keeping a melodic vibe all the way through especially in their track Sojourn which I would have to say is my favourite track of their’s due to the solo in the middle of the song. You can certainly see why Boris Records picked these guys up after listening to this release.
It’s really nice to hear harsh vocals over a really thrashy melodic band as it’s very uncommon to find a band that I can enjoy that meld all of these things in their songs extremely well. You can certainly tell that these guys are heavily influenced by the gods that are Exodus and Testament which is always really refreshing to see as not many bands aim to sound like the old school songs where they’re truly showing their talent on the guitars. One more thing about this release is that the drums, vocals and guitars go extremely well together and you can’t find anything that sounds out of place at all.
If you’re a fan of the old school sound of metal in the veins of Testament, Exodus, Skeletonwitch and Kreator then you’ll certainly be a fan of this band as they have everything that you’ve wanted from them bands while keeping a very unique sounded added into which makes them who they are.
Death Of Kings are one to watch out for with their old school sound
