Home Wrecked, a five piece pop-punk outfit from Sheffield, formed back in the summer of 2016 and they’re already achieving exciting things. Going back to their roots, vocalist Joe Daniels approached Dan Peddis, Richard ‘Cop’ Copley and Ben Hinchcliffe for the positions of bass, guitar and drums respectively. The newly formed quartet then found and approached final guitarist Alastair Murphy, and Home Wrecked was born.
They draw influence from a vast range of genres and artists to get their refined sound. When we spoke to Dan recently, he says that ‘It’s a good mix from everyone. We all like punk rock, punk pop, whatever you want to call it. Our influences come from bands like Neck Deep all the way to Fightstar, Thrice, Biffy Clyro’.
For a band still in their infancy, you may expect teething problems, especially with writing and recording but this doesn’t seem the case at all for Home Wrecked. They tend to just ‘write and let it all come naturally.’ They say they write what they personally would listen to; without putting pressure on themselves to write to fit a certain genre. It definitely pays off, as the result is catchy, toe-tapping pop punk that’s uplifting and never boring. A rarity! Their EP was recorded at Axis Studios in Doncaster, which was a ‘great experience’ for them.
You can see their video for Never Say Never below, which was a huge risk for the band, as they worried no-one would turn up! As you can see, that wasn’t the case. It was filmed in Vintage Rockbar, Doncaster, and as people turned up, drank, danced and sang, the result is so effective. A really upbeat effect to an upbeat track.
Home Wrecked pride themselves on having done everything off their own backs. You just have to ‘find the right people,’ says Dan, as they have done by sourcing their videographer, producer and doing the leg work themselves.
The lads’ plans for 2017 are to get on a few shows and get themselves out on the live circuit, so try to catch them at a show soon. They’re also going to be shooting another video for their next single, and recording another EP – which they’re already half way through! No rest for the wicked, and we can’t wait to hear it.
Home Wrecked have an EP out currently, called When All Goes Wrong, which you can get your hands on HERE.
