With festival announcements steadily being revealed to the eager public, the Paris edition of the renowned rock event named Download Festival, has already delivered a smattering of their line-up to the masses for their third year in existence. The difference in comparison to its British big brother, is the addition of a fourth A-list headliner and a replacing act for Avenged Sevenfold.
Headlining the wild weekend alongside the Prince of Darkness performing his first solo tour and the legendary Guns N’ Roses is none other than the mighty Marilyn Manson and the formidable Foo Fighters. The headliners however, are four of many things to get excited about including five incredible acts who are planning to make the thrilling experience unforgettable.
1. Thy Art Is Murder.
Reassuringly retrieving their infamous frontman CJ McMahon, this Australian deathcore group have regained their full strength with intentions to take the French festival by storm. ‘Dear Desolation’ is their fourth studio album released in 2017 is a prime example of the pure brutality and sheer lunacy of their musical skills (as well as a rather vivid idea of how chaotic their live shows can become). Also carrying serious weight in their lyricism, the group make their opinionated viewpoints clear to the music world with no fear of backlash from those who may disagree with their principles.
2. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.
The ex-Gallows frontman is renowned for his rambunctious nature on the stage and playing alongside the Rattlesnakes since 2015, the punk rock group have built themselves a formidable name on top of this already staggering reputation. Performing at intimate and vast venues across the globe, you can guarantee that they will bring one huge punk party for all to enjoy and tear each other apart in.
3. The Offspring.
The punk rock revivalists rarely need an introduction in their field due to the mammoth collection of hit singles that carried their career into the heavens of beer soaked debauchery. Noodles and the gang have been around since the mid 80’s and steadily building the foundations of their now stellar status, playing across continents and releasing an enormous nine albums of music for everyone to enjoy.
4. While She Sleeps.
Revered in their genre by fans and colleagues alike, the Sheffield quintet have been making some progress in gradually reminding the community that it’s not all about the money after ridding themselves of their previous record label, releasing their latest successful album ‘You Are We’ independently. Consistently delivering shows that leave you choking on the palpable atmosphere they generate after firing off a few of their well known metalcore riffs.
5. Slaves
This charismatic punk duo hail from the garden of England and regardless of Kent being a dignified and formal county, you’ll be hard pressed to find this pair following the residents renowned reputation of living a reasonably relaxing life. A more appropriate environment for Isaac Holman and Laurie Vincent would be any empty space available to smash and strum the hell out their drums and guitar while playing to anyone or anything. Releasing three studio albums thus far, with 2015’s “Are You Satisfied?” and 2016’s ‘Take Control’ sweeping the nation triumphantly spending two weeks in the top ten of the official UK albums chart, as well as hit singles “Feed The Mantaray”, “Sockets”, “The Hunter” and “Cheer Up London” systematically finding its way into the public’s daily playlist.
